I mean, just look at it! 2-cyl, 360cc 2-Stroke with 33hp, it’s tiny, it’s got an awesome looking front fascia treatment (to me anyway - look at those yellow, integrated fogs!) It’s got pillarless side windows as well!

300,000 yen (plus shipping) from Japan, which is about $3875 Canadian - parts would be murder to ever find, but imagine the smiles on your face and those who see you! :D

And if it does break, you probably wouldn’t even need a trailer

I actually almost imported one of those once. I have an irrational love for Daihatsus. There was a Daihatsu Fellow Buggy, too.

Yup! Goes well with Honda’s similar off-roader of the period! :P

I’ve just got an irrational love for classic kei cars :P, but I love the styling on the Fellow Max. The Honda Life Touring would be my first choice!

I’ve owned a few keis. Several Subaru 360's, a Subaru R2, and a Mazda R360. They’re the best. The Life Touring looks a lot like the Fellow Max. That was the early 70's kei car shape, I guess. It was a really efficient design. It’s just awesome that they made tiny 4-door versions. My favorites are the earlier ones. A Mazda Carol is my dream kei now. Or, a 1st gen. Fellow.

Aw man! I envy you mate! Next to classic FIATs and other Italians, classic Keis are right up my alley! Remind me where you live again Jonee? I imagine parts area PITA to find though...

Yes, the Life’s shape and styling is similar - probably why I like the Fellow Max so much...I think I like the Life more, as an overall package, but I do like the front end on the Fellow Max more, styling-wise! The Life Touring just looks so awesome though! :D

I’m in L.A. Importing from Japan to here is relatively simple I’ve found. At least it was the two times I did it. Some cars it’s easier to find parts for than others, but there’s pretty good support for classic keis in Japan now, so if you can find a connection there and don’t mind ordering from overseas, you can get parts.

Yeah, that Honda is a great looking little car. A good, clean design. The Suzuki Fronte of that era is another great one. It’s got more styling frippery, but it’s really cool.

I have noticed the prices of classic Keis seem to have gone up in the last while except for rough ones. (I check Goonet and TradeCarView often for fun :P)

It’s only the last 20 or so years that they’ve been saving classic cars over there, so I guess there’s a limited supply. Another site I like to check is Yahoo Auctions Japan which they use instead of EBay for whatever reason. That’s where I found both the keis I imported.

Did you find an independent trustworthy shop to look them over before you had them shipped? Still have either if them? :)

Yeah, I found a fellow over there who took them someplace and had them looked over. And, I wasn’t disappointed when they got here. I don’t own them anymore, no. :( I sold them after I went to grad school and had to start paying back student loans. Plus, I have a German microcar project that I needed to concentrate on, but of course that’s barely happened. Here’s an old Jalopnik post about my cars. The Fuldamobil is the one I still have. Along with a Renault Le Car.
